To find each image, I typed “Jack” into Google Image Search, alongside an additional word in an effort to control my search. In doing this, I wanted to see how many different images and ideas I could generate. Given the amount of time I spend online, to turn digital images into drawings is an attempt to foreground material reality against a virtual backdrop. This project includes twenty-eight drawings to date.

The actual world is in danger of declining to a resource of cyberspace, the realm from which we draw the materials and the energy to maintain and expand cyberspace, the place where those actual persons live whose homely and prosaic lives provide the raw material for hyperreal representations on the Internet.

This is what "search" has meant: a journey of exploration and self-creation, not an instant swipe to already composed answers.
