To find each image, I typed “Jack” alongside an additional word into Google Image Search. I then selected an image and turned it into a drawing. This project questions the tendency to outsource my search to an algorithm while having my perspective mediated by Google. Given the amount of time I spend online, to turn digital images into drawings is an attempt to foreground material reality against a virtual backdrop.

This project includes twenty-eight drawings to date.

The actual world is in danger of declining to a resource of cyberspace, the realm from which we draw the materials and the energy to maintain and expand cyberspace, the place where those actual persons live whose homely and prosaic lives provide the raw material for hyperreal representations on the Internet.
