A couple blocks from where I work is a local tire shop. In the alley beside the shop sit old tires that are waiting to be recycled. One afternoon I talked to the owner who agreed to let me photograph them after work. Later that evening, I took eighteen photographs documenting each tire from the alley.
Rotating Tires is structured not only as a photographic series but also as a performance enacted through exhibition; while on display, the photographs remain in a perpetual state of rotation. This allows the viewer to encounter a new composition each time they enter the gallery.
