Work > Coffee Drawings

Made between weekly meetings, endless email, and never-ending red tape, Coffee Drawings was an attempt to feel productive at work. Taking the phrase “daily grind” literally, this project utilized a coffee maker to develop drawings. To make each image, I placed graphite and water into the filter basket and allowed it to run onto paper positioned directly underneath. Because the ratio of graphite to water was never consistent, each drawing is unique.

The coffee maker was hidden in a closet, where I made the drawings before I started work, during breaks throughout the day, and right before I headed home. I typically made two to three drawings each day I worked on the series. I finished the project in March 2024, having made approximately 300 drawings.

Junior will be publishing a limited edition book of select drawings from the project soon.
